Yes.. 20 years ago, on this very day, i was borned. I am always very excited and exceptionally cheerful on this day every year. It feels so special that there is a day dedicated to you and that is your birthday. And thinking about it, last year on this very day I was in Tekong, lying on my bed, quietly wishing myself happy birthday and receiving messages from friends. So sad uh. And this year, ain't much difference, perhaps better than last year, had lunches, dinners here and there with family and friends. Even though there was no birthday party or something due to the lack of preparation and time, I am very thankful and appreciative that many people remembered my birthday and even prepared presents. And I will need to thank those who spent their regards and wishes through sms-es. I have received all of them and kept them in my heart. Those who gave presents and had dinner with me are not forgotten to. Thank you all so much.
20 years is not that long a time, as Khairah said, "only 2 decades and one-fifth of a century". But it feels so weird that now I am officially a "twenty-year old". And yes I have crossed over to the next age group but no worries I will be seeing my friends on this side pretty soon. Sooner than you "nineteens" thought. One more year to go before reaching the universally agreed mature age or so called "important year". Honestly I don't see how different it is from other ages. Perhaps the fact that I can watch R-21 movies.. oh yesh.. finally.. whahaha.. here I come.. (no intended meaning)
I shall relish the last half-an-hour of my birthday.. Tomorrow is another working day. Sickening. Sigh. But what to do? At least I have the memories of today to last me tomorrow. Ha.
And so Happy Birthday to myself!!

The last two weeks before the new year had been a meaningful one for me. Thankfully for SAF bands and my numerous uncleared off days and leaves, I was able to enjoy a long break and recharge for the new year ahead. So meaningful in what ways, a lot of people might ask. I guess it was the people whom i have met up with and spent some time together. A lot of people may think having not seen your friends for a year is only a short span of time but I guess to me, a year feels like a decade because people whom you are close to goes missing from your life for a year, and it just seems like part of you has disappeared with it too. It was great to be able to see friends whom you have not been in contact with for the past year and getting to know what they have been up to these days. And I am very happy that all of them are in good shape and doing well with whatever they are busy with. And I am very appreciative of the fact that they set aside time to meet up with me . It was great.
My mum's birthday was great too. To be able to enjoy dinner with my parents and just see them so happy just puts a smile on my face. It makes me feel fortunate and loved...

Did I mention that Joel's Xmas party was fabulous? Yeah you bet it is. Having stopped for one year, his family decides to pick the tradition this year and host a Xmas party. And I am very fortunate to be invited by Joel to share the joy this festive season. Got to thank Joel for that!! Lots of gift exchanges.. lots of money spent.. but it was all in the name of Xmas. I will need to thank Joel, Sunil, Melvin and Eugene for their gifts because they were lovely. and here are some pictures taken (unfortunately Eugene was not around)

yesh right.. even Joel's dog wants to party.. Her name's Truffles by the way.
And New Year's Eve was spent with Melvin and Janice as we were celebrating Melvin's Birthday. We ate Lobster at Manhattan Fish Market and the lobster was so tiny and meatless it looks like a prawn. Besides that everything else was perfect and tasted great.
So unfortunately I had to leave Melvin and Janice for my friend's countdown party at her house. It was a late-Xmas-New Year party which Juling whipped up some of her specialty, I think, for us. Got to thank her for her effort to put together this party for us. It was superb. We did not stay till 12midnight and some of them decided they wanted to visit Clarke Quay for a drink at the pub. I did not tag along so I went back to my chalet in Downtown East with my family.
It was pretty crazy as my cousins were all around. We counted down to the new year at the main lobby of downtown east and before we knew it we were attacked by people armed with spray cans. We dashed to the nearest store and purchased our own cans and joined in the mess. It was really awful with foams and strings all over your head and face and body but I must say I had a great time with my cousins. They are all younger than me but have so much energy in them waiting to burst out of their shell.
Today, I met up with my BMT mates which was quite a surprise as I only decided to message them 2 days before. The response was quite shocking but I am very glad and thankful most of them could make it. We had fish&Co (don't ask me why I am always at seafood restaurants) and a wonderful time recalling our days in Tekong, which were not exactly that far away (only 9 months ago). Our experience at Tekong can never be summarised in a few words and the bonds I fostered with them certainly goes beyond the superficial. I mean we shared hard times, fun times, everyone had their own classic moment that stays etched in our minds and we will remember each and everyone of us for as long as we live. And I must say I really had a great time just hanging out with them.

And in the year 2007, just hope everything stays good and cool. And pretty much looking forward to it then...
