Let me see.. It has been long since I last blogged. I apologise for the inability to update the events happening due my commitment to serving the nation's cause (like whatever la..) Anyway I've been at camp these days, stranded on this island off the northern coast of Singapore, where there is nothing but trees, green, shouting, botaks and so on. It is definitely a once in a lifetime experience I would say. I guess training so far is still manageable for me, no doubt there are times when you feel like giving up but looking around at the friends who are living through the same thing as you are, it gets a lot easier to motivate yourself to move on. And I am thankful for having a bunch of close friends whom I can hang around with and fight along side with.

I just came back from what people would see as the most 'shiong' part of their entire BMT experience and that is field camp. Field camp lasted for 7 days where we had to survive in the jungle, no proper shelter (just tents that can't contain a shit), ration food (so disgusting you would rather turn to biscuits), mosquitoes, gigantic centipedes that you think you can only find in prank shops (they are huge and freakish!!), er and many other things la. But after all that I've described I'm glad I went through it safe and sound. I would say the hardest part of the entire field camp would be the inability to call home and report on my status to my parents and I feel very uneasy not being able to hear my Mum's voice. Somehow I feel insecure and edgy. which is also why I dashed back to the bunk to get my phone and call home immediately after I got back to bunk.

Scary things aside, field camp does have its fun and excitement as well. For example it was the first time I saw such a beautiful starry night. The sky was so clear that every stars in the sky was visible to the eye. I identified the Orion belt, which is basically three stars horizontally lined up. (and coincidentally it happens to be the name of my Company) My Platoon Sergeant also taught us how to find our way out using the North star (I think) which is nearest to the Orion stars. Anyway that all happened on the 4th day when we had our technical break which gave us time to rest and relax after days of training. That day was fun and memorable because we got to bath, had fresh rations (food from our cook house), our officers and sergeants were nice to us and brought us to the beach to consume out meal.

It is also after this field camp that I begin to learn to treasure the things I've been taking for granted. Like light, water, bed, food and whatever you have. When I came back to the bunk yesterday, it was the first time I missed that place even though normally I detest going back especially after book out. It was then I realise you need to learn to lose it before you will come to treasure it.

Alright enough of the field camp shit, its over. So what else is there? Chinese New Year. I enjoyed a 6 days break which I thoroughly enjoyed. I went around to meet up with family and relatives, gambled, collected angbaos. Of course, my hair was the subject of anywhere I go. Haha. whatever. At the end of the day, my angbao collection was even out with the previous year so I am quite glad. at least it hasn't fell. Anyway hope everyone will be more generous next year with the angbao money. Heehee. Anyway I've gotten my second pay from the army even though I have yet to spendthe first one. Haha. I feel bad cause I keep my pay and spend my parents' money instead. Smart ain't I?

Anyway I still have a $250 and $150 good progress award and EAGLES award which I have yet to collect from school. Will do it when I return to school for my results, which is coming out probably next week. Gosh. I cannot begin to describe how freaked out I am now. Everytime I think about it, I get goosebumps everywhere. Oh please let me get good results so I can ease my mind and walk comfortably into a university. I shall pray every night from now till the release of my results. I'm booking in tonight at 8pm. Will be confined for another 2 weeks due to the Sit Test which falls on a weekend. darn. bet they arranged it intentionally.
